AFGHANISTAN: REFUGEES CONTINUE TO FLEE

Thousands of Afghans are fleeing into neighbouring countries after the Taliban’s takeover. We asked our local Central Asian contacts what is happening and how you can pray today.

“Unfortunately, the situation near the border with Afghanistan is getting worse,” one local contact said. “The number of people crossing into our country from Afghanistan is huge. Some have been caught by the border guards and sent back. Some hide.

“As Christians, I think we should be open to accepting suffering people. We need wisdom and leading from God in this.”

Another Central Asian Christian said, “I met several refugee people and they admitted that they were allowed to stay, but only a few of them have official status in our country. Others have to hide. The case is usually that Afghan refugees can’t pay big bribes, so only those who have money or are supported can come to our country.

“There are rumours that the Taliban want to increase their influence in neighbouring Central Asian countries. Of course, we know God is over this situation and our Christian answer is prayer.

“Please pray with us for this situation.”

Pray For Afghanistan:

  • Pray this new wave of refugees will experience God’s protection and provision.
  • Pray for the Taliban, that its members will come to know Jesus and be transformed.
  • Praise God for the spiritual and practical support of the Central Asian church. Pray they will continue faithfully serving Afghan refugees.
