Local Open Doors partners recently visited Kalemago village following a devastating extremist attack. Four Christians lost their lives in the attack.
On 11 May, members of the Eastern Indonesia Mujahideen, an extremist group, killed four Christians in the village of Kalemago. The four victims have now been named as Marten Solon, Simson Susa, Paulus Papa, and Lukas Lese.
All four were working in their coffee bean field when extremists approached them. The victims’ families and local community are grieving and devastated.
One family member said, “I am grieving. I was the one who found the body. I am very sad, but I surrender everything to God.”
Open Doors’ local partners are on-the-ground to provide all the prayer and aid they can. But even in their suffering, the local church in Kalemago village is thinking of you – those who continue to pray and support them.
Iswadi, the pastor of a local church, said, “Thank you so much for your participation and support for us. In this situation, we are not fighting alone. We got help from you.
“We do experience the presence of Open Doors in this place, side by side with us, to feel the burden we feel. So, thank you. May God bless you for what you have given us: your energy, your thoughts, your goods [financial help].”
Please continue to pray with those affected by this attack.
As targeted attacks on churches continue, please join our community in prayer.
Pray For Indonesia:
- Pray God would pour out His peace and comfort on the families of those affected by the extremist attack.
- Praise God He is using local partners to support the devastated community.
- Pray those responsible for the attack would experience a radical transformation by God’s grace.
