After two months of conflict and with an estimated 600 killed, already vulnerable Christians in Myanmar are at extreme risk.
Open Doors’ local partners are in the field, risking their lives to reach those affected and gather more information. Persecuted Christians Min Naing*, Pastor Kyaw* and Lwin* are asking for your prayer today.
Min Naing
A Christian from the capital Yangon, Min Naing said: “Every day I hear gunshots and sound grenades near my house…At night, most homes do not turn on lights after 8 pm. Sometimes I hear gunshots in the evening and around midnight. We also stay indoors during the day. We cannot go out except for shopping for groceries… Please pray for the safety of me and my family.”
Pastor Kyaw
Pastor Kyaw leads a church in the township where martial law is imposed. Daily gunfire has forced church activities to stop indefinitely.
“My wife has not been able to sleep for two weeks. That’s why we fled to another town. When we arrived in the town, I had to flee again. This time for two days, because the army was recruiting more soldiers.”
Lwin
Many locals are currently at risk of forced enlistment into the army. Open Doors partner Lwin said:
“In a remote village, a pastor is leading a small church… Last week, the village chief was asked to recruit 30 men for the military in their village. Now the believers, including the pastor, are hiding in the forest. Worship service was suspended.”
“Thank you for standing with us during this crisis. We don’t know how or when this will be over. Please pray that the believers will stand strong in their faith, and non-believers (many are frustrated and hopeless at the moment even with their own faith) will come to know the true and living God.”
Right now, nobody is safe in Myanmar. Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Christian and the many others at risk in Myanmar. Pray God will draw many people unto Himself during these times.
